Between experiencing burn out and injury recovery, I honestly didn't get as many training miles in before the event. I tried to cram some in the 3 weeks before the event. The week immediately before I did nothing. But for some reason, I wasn't concerned. I set my garmin for 3m/43s intervals and figured I'd do what I can. My goal at that point was to finish strong.
The course wasn't too bad. Because of the scenery it just may have become my favorite event. The hill in the beginning wasn't bad at all, running South Hill in Puyallup helped. The hills later in the course were a bit rough. In the Wenatchee Half, my time was 2:20, in this one it was 2:30. Considering the lack of proper preparation, I didn't do as bad as I expected. My first one was a training run for the marathon I ran in June. So I was in better shape; this one I was not in shape at all. So, all in all, I'm rather pleased.
